MiG-29 Fulcrum tags

MiG-29 was designed as an Advanced Lightweight Tactical Fighter by USSR in early 1970s against the West’s lightweight fighter F-16. When it entered Soviet AF service in 1983, it was the first fighter aircraft having the new “helmet-mounted display” technology as a standard feature.

After the dissolution of USSR, Ukraine received over 200 MiG-29s as a debt payment from the Russians in early 1990s. They were Izdeliye 9.12 and 9.13 variants both of which were early versions of the type.

One of those ex-Soviet Izdeliye 9.13’s was s/n: 2960728125. While its Soviet AF bort number is unknown, in Ukraine it first flew as Blue 20 with the 9th Tactical Aviation Brigade (9 BrTA) at Ozerne Airbase. Scramble records show Blue 20 still at Ozerne in February 2009. After that, it transferred to 114 BrTA at Ivano-Frankivsk, received the Ukrainian Falcons scheme, and was renumbered Blue 05 in August 2011. The last public trace of the jet was a video posted by pilot Vadym “Karaya” Voroshylov in March 2023, where it appeared as White 05.

Once the full-scale invasion began, White 05 reportedly flew combat missions until it was shot down near Ostrivske in Donetsk Oblast on 7 January 2023. The pilot’s fate remains unclear, but he likely survived since no ejection seats were found at the site. Parts of the wreck were later recovered by a local, and many of those pieces were acquired by FIGHTERTAGS and turned into tags for this special release.
