MiG-23UB Flogger | Inverted “Misfit”

$194.99

The Misfit in UB is an inverted tag was cut from an upper fuselage access panel located on the starboard side of Soviet Air Force MiG-23UB Flogger-C s/n: 039047810 that was assigned to the renowned WWII and Korean War veteran Soviet interceptor unit 415 IAP, which was based at Tunoshna Airbase and tasked with the defense of Moscow directly by the Soviet leadership. A unique characteristic of the 415 IAP’s MiG-23s in Tunoshna was the “eye art” painted on the front of their aircraft.

On a standard FIGHTERTAGS tag, the upper right and lower left corners are 90 degrees, while the upper left and lower right corners have angular cuts. During the process of positioning the tags on the MiG-23 panels before cutting, we found that some tags only fit the panel correctly when the 90-degree corners were on the opposite side, effectively inverting the tag. Consequently, we reversed all the lettering, so it appears as though the tag is viewed from behind. When a tag is viewed from behind, the MiG-23 is also viewed from behind too!

The drawing on the MiG-23UB “Misfit” tag is different from those on the MiG-23MLD “Misfit” tags!
