The Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 tags were cut from an access panel located on the left side of the fuselage of Bf 109G-14, WNr. 465250. This aircraft was one of the last G-14s built during World War II, produced just before Bf 109 manufacturing fully shifted to the G-10 and K-4 variants.

WNr. 465250 was assigned to 9. Staffel of Jagdgeschwader 51 “Mölders” when it was shot down on 11 March 1945 while attacking a Soviet Tu-2 medium bomber. The pilot, Luftwaffe ace Fw. Paul Vogt, managed to bail out and survived, becoming a prisoner of war. Vogt was credited with shooting down at least nine Allied aircraft, many of them Soviet bombers throughout the war. The panel from 465250 was discovered at a dump site at Königsberg Airbase, together with several other Bf 109 parts several years ago. The panel was located in the area of the fuselage where the Luftwaffe Balkenkreuz was painted, and still retains a good amount of the original insignia on its surface.
