MiG-23MLD Flogger | Inverted “Misfits”

$174.99$194.99

Misfits are inverted tags were cut from three upper fuselage access panels of Soviet Air Force MiG-23MLD Flogger-K, “White 38″, s/n: 0390312084, which was one of the 33 MiG-23MLDs of 120 IAP deployed to Bagram Airbase near Kabul during the Afghanistan War in 1988. It completed over 80 combat missions over Afghan soil before being severely damaged during its landing after a sortie in October 1989. Although it was sent to the Soviet Union for repairs, it never returned, as Soviet troops, including 120 IAP, fully withdrew from Afghanistan a few months later.

On a standard FIGHTERTAGS tag, the upper right and lower left corners are 90 degrees, while the upper left and lower right corners have angular cuts. During the process of positioning the tags on the MiG-23 panels before cutting, we found that some tags only fit the panel correctly when the 90-degree corners were on the opposite side, effectively inverting the tag. Consequently, we reversed all the lettering, so it appears as though the tag is viewed from behind. When a tag is viewed from behind, the MiG-23 is also viewed from behind too! Enjoy the Misfits!
