Solid wing panel with structured tags were cut from an access panel located on the wing of the YF-12A, s/n 60-6936. This wing panel was not made from a titanium “sheet”, but instead it was machined from a solid block of titanium and milled down to the required thickness! Because of this process, the surface of the tag shows thousands of circular lines paralel to each other, which are the milling marks left by the cutter.
All tags feature thick titanium structure on their back, completely intact and untouched. None were trimmed!
